Sunday Dinner With Scott James and 600 KCOL Fox News Radio

Scott James, the program director for KCOL in Fort Collins, Colorado, chucked up some tasty morsels for us, just in time for Sunday family dinner:

On the July 31 broadcast of his show Ride Home with The James Gang, James stated, "do they just want everybody to be politically correct and be tolerant and get along? 'You must accept me in my homosexual and/or perverted, i.e., child molestation ways. You must accept it.'"

GLAAD called him on it, and in true neo-con fashion, he was unfazed by the offense he caused his more polite-minded listeners. What's next for them, Scotty? Diarrhea on a dinner plate?

Scott James, poking his head up through the dirty diapers, cigarette butts, used napkins and rotten lettuce, tonight in The Garbage Shovel.

(Hat-tip to Pam Spaulding)

Update: He licked it back up.

"I certainly did not mean to equate homosexuality to child molestation and after reviewing the recording of that program I certainly understand how members of the GLBT community would take my ill-spoken words as offensive and I most certainly owe them an apology."

Funny, GLAAD said that when they first called him he was "unapologetic" for making the remark. I think folks like this say things that they know will get them attention. Then, after they get a few hits on their homepage (replete with advertising), they decide to cut and run before the shareholders get pissed. Got to hand it to 'em: It works! Undignified, but effective. I remember the radio biz being all about that.

Christian Post: U.S. Gays A Threat To Iraqi Christians

Hats off to Pam Spaulding for unearthing the latest scapegoating of gays by the fundamentalist Christian media. Fundamentalists will blame everyone but themselves for the wars and rumors of wars they start. In this instance, the leader of the St. George's Anglican Church in Baghdad made a statement about confusion over western culture within his church, which the fundamentalist Christian media promptly took advantage of in order to buttress their hatred of homosexuality.

An unique odor for your Sunday morning from The Garbage Shovel.

Formaldehyde Soaked Trailers Forever, Courtesy FEMA Under Bush

Post-Katrina New Orleans remains an impressively rotten nugget of Bush Administration policy. The city is still in ruins, and the people are still stuck in these nasty, toxic trailers.

But remember what Babs said: "the people...you know, were underprivileged anyway, so this...is working very well for them."

Today In The Shovel: Focus On The Family

The righteous rabble at FOF are preaching to us from the Twilight Zone again, on how the hate crimes laws that already cover them should not be applied to gay people because ... well because fundamentalists wouldn't be as comfortable condemning gays. (oops, wait, that's the truth.. can't say it that way). Fundamentalists would get arrested and charged with... uh, what. Thought Crimes! Yeah! I saw that once in a movie with Tom Cruise!
I'll link you to it, but fair warning: You may become cross-eyed and light headed from all the heady logic in this 'piece':
There's really nothing new here. This is for the consumption of the 'base'. They need to keep scaring them with the same stuff over and over in order to keep them thoughtfully compliant with FOF's world view. Talk about thought crimes!
There you have it folks: Focus on the Family, with today's tasty morsel in The Garbage Shovel.

White FL Republican: Blacks Made Me Offer to Put Out In The Bathroom

Ah, one can smell the stopped up public toilet from here. These days, where there's stench, there's usually a conservative Republican nearby. From the Orlando Sentinel:

TITUSVILLE - State Rep. Bob Allen told police he was just playing along when a undercover officer suggested in a public restroom that the legislator give him oral sex and $20 because he was intimidated, according to a taped statement and other documents released Thursday.

Who Wants To Be A Patriot?

Take a look at this tasty treat, courtesy of the U.S Department of Defense.

It's not like this kind of attitude is helping us win any wars these days.
How can anyone love their country enough to overcome the fact that their country spits on their willingness to sacrifice their life defending it? This is a mystery I will never fully digest - much like a bad oyster.
The DoD and the U.S. Military brass - smelling their worst tonight in The Garbage Shovel.

What babies.

The Republicans can dish it out but can't take it. It really is embarassing for them that they stomped off in a snit when things didn't go their way.

This is exactly how the Repubs need to be handled. The only thing they understand is heavy-handed force. If you have any qualms about playing hardball with them, they will exploit it to your disadvantage.
